How it works
Enter the number
Type any 10-digit US number, with or without dashes.
Continue to BeenVerified
It checks public and commercially available records linked to that number.
Review what's available
Results vary by number. Full reports need a BeenVerified plan — check the price before you pay.
What a lookup may show
- The name registered to the number
- Current and past addresses linked to it
- Carrier and line type: mobile, landline or VoIP
- Other phone numbers and emails tied to the same person
Not every number has records. New, prepaid and internet numbers often return little or nothing.
Getting unwanted calls?
- Don't call back numbers that ring once and hang up — "one-ring" scams bill you for expensive international calls.
- If a caller says they're your bank, the IRS or a delivery company, hang up and call the official number yourself. Never share one-time codes.
- Add your number to the National Do Not Call Registry to cut down sales calls.
- Report scam calls to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and forward spam texts to 7726.
- Turn on built-in protection: "Silence Unknown Callers" on iPhone, "Caller ID & spam" on Android, plus your carrier's call-blocking app.
Questions
Is a reverse phone lookup legal?
Yes. Looking up publicly available records for personal reasons is legal in the US. What you can't do is use the results for decisions covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act — hiring, renting out a home, credit or insurance.
Does it cost anything?
Searching on this page costs nothing. Detailed reports on BeenVerified require a paid plan; it may offer a low-cost trial that renews as a subscription unless you cancel. Read the terms on its checkout page before you pay.
Will the owner of the number know I searched?
People search services generally don't notify the person you look up. Check BeenVerified's FAQ for its exact policy.
Why didn't the search find anything?
Some numbers have very few public records — especially new, prepaid and internet (VoIP) numbers, or numbers that were recently reassigned.
Can I remove my own information?
Yes. Most people search sites, including BeenVerified, have an opt-out page where you can request removal of your record.
